We are pleased to offer this superb fine villa located in the heart of the prestigious and world famous Douro Valley, the oldest registered wine region in the world. From this villa guests will enjoy unforgettable stunning views of vineyards and olive groves and the surrounding unspoilt villages.
Accommodation
The careful and detailed renovation of a former typical Portuguese primary school has turned an old ruin into a luxury villa. The original construction (most of which was kept and improved) dates back to the Estado Novo - the corporatist authoritarian regime installed in Portugal in 1933 against the democratic and unstable First Republic. The regime was later developed by António de Oliveira Salazar, ruler of Portugal from 1932 to 1968, when he fell ill and was replaced by Marcelo Caetano. Most of the public buildings built during the regime are still admired nowadays, including the primary schools. Tastefully furnished to the highest standards, incorporating a few restored master pieces of furniture from the original building, this property is undoubtedly a unique place to stay, surrounded by unspoiled nature and remarkable views. Guests will be pampered by local staff composed of a maid and cook who take care of the catering and cleaning of the house. Breakfast, lunch and/or dinner are available at an extra cost. The food was tasted by us and is purely excellent! This villa is a child friendly property making it suitable for families seeking an unforgettable holiday in one of Portugal's most sought after destination.
A two storey house
Lower floor: fully fitted spacious kitchen with door opening onto the bbq ad garden area. Spacious living / dining room with very comfortable seating, table for up to 12 people, satellite TV, DVD player and music centre. Guest toilet. 2 double bedrooms each with an ensuite shower room and doors opening onto a delightful terrace from where you can appreciate superb views over the Douro valley.
Upper floor: twin bedroom with ensuite shower room and balcony. Master double bedroom with an ensuite shower room and balcony. The master bedroom has a sofa bed sleeping an extra 2 children or 1 adult.
Exterior
Spacious lawn around the rectangular shaped swimming pool (9 X 3,4 metres). Pool side shower, barbecue area and spacious fully equipped games room.

Carla is simply amazing, all her recommendations were superb and we really appreciated her organising our fantastic day out to Quintas, museums, a bakery and a boat trip. Rui our guide was friendly, attentive and good-humoured. We've enjoyed a couple of meals at VeloDouro in Pinhao and highly recommend it. Food is incredible and staff so friendly. In fact, everyone we have met has welcomed us warmly and shown us such kindness. We don't want to leave!

The Douro is beautiful and the sailing boat trip with Paulo and his gorgeous dog one evening was pure tranquility and highly recommended.
